Maintenance of Vinyl Siding vs. Wood

Wood siding has been a popular feature on homes all over the country for many years. This finish gives many types of home a natural, rugged look. Several common types of wood siding have been used on countless homes over the last few decades.

However, in recent times there has been a move towards vinyl siding as an alternative. The reasons for this include cost and environmental concerns (the material used in the manufacture of vinyl siding material is often of recycled origin and can usually be recycled at the end of its life cycle).

Another advantage that vinyl siding has over wood is that it is easier to maintain and keep clean. Wood has a tendency to deteriorate over time and need regular repainting or staining. Vinyl siding, on the other hand, is usually impregnated with color all the way through. Due to this, the color will not wear off, and there is no need for this type of siding to be re-painted or re-stained.

Vinyl siding that has been patterned and colored to look like wood is an especially good choice, giving you the rustic appearance without all of the maintenance issues that normally come with wooden siding.
