All across America houses have many different types of home windows. The reasons for this are partly historical because people used whatever technology, tools and materials were available at the time. Also from region to region, different styles were in vogue at different times.

In some cases, there are environmental or architectural reasons why one type of home windows is preferable to others. However, in most cases in modern homes, the style chosen is mostly a matter of personal preference.

Some of the more common styles in use today are:

• Sliding
• Casement
• Awning
• Picture
• Bay and Bow

All of these types of home windows have pros and cons – get a good contractor to go through the various options with you before making your final decision.
