The Right Kind of Temper - Glass Doors and Safety

Glass is an important component of most homes because it brings in necessary light and allows for a good view of the surroundings. Many homes are fitted with large picture windows and glass doors to make the interior feel light and spacious.
Unfortunately, with the benefits that large sheets of glass bring, come risks as well. There is always the possibility of someone walking or running into a pane of glass, causing it to break and causing serious injury from the pieces of broken glass.
Children and glass doors can be an especially bad combination in this regard. Tempered glass is much harder to break, and even if penetrated, does not break easily into sharp shards like regular glass. Therefore, it is a good idea to ensure that all glass doors are made from tempered glass, especially in homes with children.
